Agriculture and Energy Network Update for Friday, June 5, 2026

Date
Jun 5, 2026

Operational Performance
The network is showing positive performance momentum through the first week of June. Car velocity declined modestly compared to the prior week but improved compared to the prior month. Terminal dwell improved both week over week and compared to the prior month. Our local service compliance measure is performing above 91% and improved compared to the prior month.

Last Friday, a derailment on our busy Fallbridge Subdivision, which connects Pasco, Washington, to the Portland/Vancouver gateway, temporarily took the main track out of service. BNSF field personnel responded promptly, and the main track was returned to service the following day. Traffic flows through the corridor continue to normalize as the network rebalances from the residual backlog.

Seasonal Maintenance Activity
Track maintenance activity is at peak levels across the network. In the north, activity is currently concentrated across several subdivisions, including ongoing work across our Northern Corridor in Montana on the Kootenai, Hi Line, and Glasgow Subdivisions. On the Southern Transcon, a planned 12-hour work window at our Winslow, Arizona, yard next Wednesday will advance an ongoing expansion project. The project, part of BNSF's 2026 capital program, is enhancing switching capabilities and yard capacity at this key crew-change point — improvements that will support greater fluidity and more efficient train processing across the corridor.

These work windows have resulted in some temporary delays and will continue to do so in the near term. They are timed to minimize disruption to traffic flows as much as possible while positioning the network for more consistent performance.

Service Expectations for the Week Ahead
Severe thunderstorms capable of large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes are possible across the northern Plains and upper Midwest through Saturday. Heavy rainfall from Texas into the mid-Mississippi Valley may produce areas of localized flooding. Elevated fire weather conditions are forecast across parts of the central Rockies and Great Basin through the weekend. BNSF teams are monitoring conditions closely and are positioned to respond as needed to support safe and consistent operations.

As always, we thank you for your business and appreciate the opportunity to serve as your transportation service provider. We welcome your feedback and questions.
